Ozark Mountain wilderness trails are in protected forests that are located just across the White River from Riley's. The Ozark National Forest ­ 130,000 acres & Lower Buffalo River Wilderness Area ­ 30,000 acres. Both forests are packed with wildlife and flora with a trail system of old logging roads, horse trails & game trails. Trail activities for all skill levels of adventurers. Study the splendor of Karst Geology unique to this region. Caves & caverns are common in these formations. Native American culture & old homestead farms bring a wealth of history to this area.

Ozark National Forest-Sylamore District

This hard wood dominated mountain forest is dappled with cedar glades, pine timber and flowering dogwoods. Riley's Station sits at the northeastern boundary. Follow the National Forest boundary down the White River over 70 miles to Sylamore Creek or follow the boarder up Buffalo River 12 miles to Big Creek. We call that accessibility! Inside the 130,000- acre forest you will find state highways and county roads that will take you to the middle of nowhere. See the largest living cave at Blanchard Springs Caverns. Explore the Leatherwood Wilderness Area, Sylamore Bike Trail or the 90 mile developed horse back riding trail that will take you over the hill, through the creek, and around the ridge to the beautiful White River Valley. All of this is managed by the US Forest Service.

Lower Buffalo Wilderness Area

Scenic? No. Sensational! This is the only way to describe the latent landscape, flaunting bluffs, & translucent waters. The concluding 27 miles of this 135 mile long national river holds 30,000 acres of natural wilderness that protects the pride of America's first national river. The edge of exile joins the Ozark Nat'l Forest and is also out the front door at Riley's. Trails, floats, & wild life are the bounty of a trip into the Lower Buffalo Wilderness Area.
